IPSC, or the International Practical Shooting Confederation, is a truly international discipline practiced in over 52 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Unlike disciplines where a single type of target is used at a designated distance, practical shooting<\/a> is different. Each competition features a distinct course of fire, with a variety of targets arranged differently for each stage and match. Competitors are free to move within the boundaries of the stage and engage targets according to their own strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

These dynamic and fast-paced events involve shooting at both stationary and moving steel and paper targets, placed at various distances and angles. No two competitions are the same. A typical match includes movement, rapid reloading, shooting from dynamic positions, firing through shooting ports, and shooting from behind barricades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This style of shooting places a strong emphasis on speed and accuracy, both critical factors in determining a shooter’s final score. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Oakleigh Pistol Club, you have the opportunity to participate in both official graded IPSC matches and internal club matches tailored for OPC members seeking a less competitive, more casual atmosphere. These internal competitions are usually shorter and provide additional guidance and coaching support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
